Challa Yanadulu are a community of around 50 families in Jaladanki village, Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore District. They are one of the most socially and economically backward people. The adults in this community will do many odd jobs and are employed only for 6 months a year. They earn around Rs.50/- per day. Their living is very pathetic during the other 6 months. They do not mingle with the rest of the world, when they are sick they do not goto hospital, they do not wash their clothes, they do not visit other places, etc., To put it in a word, they are in 21st century but they behave as if they belong to people of old ages. The only way to improve their living condition is to educate their children. We were wondering why their kids were not going to the school. In fact their kids attend the school only for mid-day lunch and they stay out rest of the time.
We have been working for almost 2 years with them, donated books, stationary items, playing kits to encourage their children to attend the School. Unfortunately nothing has worked out. As a part of our regular discussions in addressing Challa yanadula's problems one of our friend's has suggested that issuing Rs.200/- scholarship per student so that this may motivate their parents to send them to school. Our members agreed to this and we discussed this idea with teacher Rajani(she teaches at school located near this community.). She extended her co-operation to us and notified this to the parents.
Among 50 children, 7 are coming to the school regularly from the month of August 2010. On Friday, September 3, 2010, our members Sarath D, Pradeep V and Siva Krishna K visited them in person, talked to their parents to let their students attend the school with 100% attendance and distributed the scholarship of Rs.200/- per student.
Action Items :-
1) Maintaining the record of students attending the school regularly. Teacher Rajani is helping us in this aspect.
2) The children are wearing torn and dirty clothes. We are planning to provide some clothes to them.
3) Visiting the school, meeting the children and their parents once in a month.

Their aunt is supporting him with great dfficulty while his sister is under guardianship of some others. He successfully completed his 10th class and is one among the brightest students in his class.
